Albania Protests Enter Tenth Day Over Trump-Linked Tourism Project
What began as demonstrations against the proposed luxury project has expanded into broader anti-government protests, drawing increasing participation from young people and civil society groups.
According to a newspaper, demonstrators are expected to march from Skanderbeg Square in the capital toward the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama later on Tuesday.
On Monday, thousands reportedly gathered in central Tirana, marching along the same route while carrying banners, flags, and chanting slogans criticizing both the government and the wider political establishment.
The unrest was initially triggered by a planned high-end tourism project linked to Jared Kushner, which includes development in parts of the protected coastal area of Zvernec, a sensitive ecological zone.
The project is estimated to cost around $4 billion and would cover roughly 618 acres within the protected landscape, according to reports.
The development is being pursued by Kushner’s investment firm and has reportedly received backing from the Albanian government, a point that has fueled ongoing public opposition and sustained demonstrations.
