Albanian Premier Says Board of Peace Could Energize UN Action
Speaking at the inaugural meeting of US President Donald Trump’s initiative, Rama expressed gratitude for Albania’s inclusion and praised Trump’s “decisive role in bringing a halt to the heartbreaking conflict in Gaza.”
Highlighting Albania’s commitment, Rama pointed to a “fully aligned bipartisan vote” in the country’s parliament, which secured the nation’s participation as a founding member.
Responding to European criticism, he said, “Many in Europe say the Board of Peace is meant to substitute the United Nations. It does not look to me like an attempt to replace the UN, but if it helps shake that agonizing giant and wake it up, then God bless the Board of Peace.”
Rama added that Albania “has confirmed its participation in the stabilization force with our troops” and urged the board to encourage direct national support for humanitarian projects, including creating a public facility for Palestinian children.
He emphasized that Albania’s efforts through the board focus particularly on protecting the young population in the Gaza Strip.
